“You can achieve significant savings by driving compliance without mandates through a consumer centric experience. We provide convenience, comfort, and safety without sacrificing choice.”

As Travel Management shifts toward a traveler centric program, how do Travel Managers manage giving travelers what they want with cost, savings and compliance.

This is an uncomfortable proposition for companies that have approached travel management from a rules-centric, cost-saving position. As managed travelers have more choice at their fingertips and higher expectations—in terms of personalized customer service and work-life balance, for example—companies are moving slowly toward a traveler-centric model.

Traveler centricity can come in multiple forms and is certainly not a one-and-done technique. It requires an ongoing commitment to first discerning what travelers need and want in terms of technology, policy and suppliers, and then ensuring the corporate travel program is designed to meet those needs. The process is ongoing, but so are the results: The more the program meets the traveler’s needs, the more the traveler will comply with the program. Truly a win-win.
